Elsa and John Klapperich live in Lake Ridge, VA, just outside of the Nation's Capital, with their beautiful daughter Sophia, three irritating cats, and about 1,000,000 honey bees. Elsa hails from east Texas, has traveled the world, love’s foreign languages and anything that has to do with France. She is a wickedly talented crafter and one of the premier cupcake bakers in the world (trust me on that!). John is a retired Green Beret, an amateur beekeeper, an aspiring entrepreneur, and a miserable golfer. Both are avid readers, music lovers, and admirers of nature.
"We love quality products from local merchants, and we hope you do too! In fact, we are so sure you will be happy with our stuff, that we offer a satisfaction guarantee. Natural Products From The Beehive Catalog:
Using local wildflower honey from Northern Virginia, we make natural foods like almond butter with honey, creamed honey, honey jams, honey nut caramels, honey spiced apple butter, honey straws and hard candies.
Honeybees travel over 50,000 miles and visit 2 Million flowers to make one pound of honey! Our honey is not pasteurized, so it retains all of the healthy properties that the bees meant to have in it. Natural honey is one of only two natural sweeteners in the world (the other is maple syrup). Honey is a natural energy and immune system booster, and it even possesses carcinogen-preventing and anti-tumor properties. There is no wonder that this awesome nectar has been used for millennia by cultures all over the globe!
Beeswax is the stuff honeybees use to make their hives. It’s what honeycomb is made of! More than just an awesome material to store honey though, beeswax has incredible properties that make it an essential ingredient in our handmade skincare products. Beeswax has both antibacterial and antifungal properties which keeps skin clean and healthy and prevents the growth of yeast and fungi. It also locks in moisture while allowing the skin to breath. Beeswax is completely edible, making a perfect addition to lip balms and nursing creams.
We use beeswax as a base for all of our lotions and creams. The combination of pure beeswax with herbs, oils, butters, and essential oils makes for some seriously great skin care products.
The inside of a beehive is one of the most sterile places in nature. This is why we want to bring the magic of bees into our line of natural healing and health products. Bees make three things: Honey, Beeswax, and Propolis.
Honey is not just some fancy sugar, it is also offers incredible antiseptic, antioxidant and cleansing properties for our bodies, valuable beauty and skin care benefits, and amazing healing properties from head to toe!

Propolis is a compound honeybees make from the resin of leaves. Researchers have identified more than 300 compounds in propolis. The majority of these compounds are forms of polyphenols. Polyphenols are antioxidants that fight disease and damage in the body. Propolis has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Researchers aren’t exactly sure why, but the bee product appears to provide protection from some bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
All of our natural health care and healing products have either honey, beeswax, or propolis in them. We use high quality herbs, oils, butters, and essential oils to create very effective products healing balm, muscle and joint cream, burn cream, cracked skin balm, itch reliever, and others.
Did you know that most of the commercial “soap” that you buy at the store is not soap at all? Many are actually detergents, rather than soap. True soaps are the result of a chemical reaction between fats, water, and lye. When combined, they transform into soap and glycerin with no lye remaining in the soap. This process is called saponification which literally means “the making of soap.”
Glycerin is a humectant that attracts moisture from the air to the skin. It’s produced naturally during the soap making process. Most commercial soap manufacturers remove the glycerin and sell it to other industries. With handmade soap, the glycerin remains in the soap. The end result is a mild, pure soap that gently cleanses your skin without being harsh, irritating, or drying.
Our handcrafted soap is made from all-natural saponified (word of the day) oils, beeswax, natural colorants and fragrance or essential oils. They have a PH of 7.8 to 8 so are very mild on the skin. All of our soaps are chock full of imperfections, which we like to call "unintentional rustic." All of our soaps lather very nicely due to the castor and olive oils inside.
